Astronaut | First Canadian Commander of the International Space Station (2013)

Referred to as “the most famous astronaut since Neil Armstrong,” Colonel Chris Hadfield is a worldwide sensation whose video of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” – seen by over 75 million people online — was called “possibly the most poignant version of the song ever created”, by Bowie himself. ALL-STARS FOR KIDS

All-Stars For Kids is a fundraising campaign in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area that runs each year throughout the month of August!

This year, long-time mentoring champions Gary Nissen and Qualico and PBA Land & Development have increased the matching pool and generously offered to match all donations up to $160,000, for a grand total of $320,000!

All of the money raised is used to create and empower life-changing mentoring relationships for children and youth in and around Calgary who are facing adversity.

An impressive roster of Calgary’s top athletes have come on board to support this year’s campaign, including returning All-Stars Bo Levi Mitchell from the Calgary Stampeders; Sean Monahan from the Calgary Flames, Olympic Curler Cheryl Bernard, Olympic Curler John Morris and Olympic Wrestler Jasmine Mian. New to this year’s campaign is Team Canada Curler Chelsea Carey!

These All-Stars, along with a larger group of community ambassadors, will use their “All-Star” profiles to help build awareness and drive donations. An exciting line up of community events and fundraising initiatives, hosted by local businesses, will provide the public with another means of participating in the campaign!
