Congratulations to Alyssa Stoddard on her $1000 Ted Rogers Scholarship!
This year 660 NEWS, along with every Rogers radio station across the country, was fortunate enough to be able to grant a $1000 Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund grant to a student in their respective communities. We’re thrilled to announce Alyssa Stoddard as our winner!
Alyssa was nominated by Bernadette O’Kurley who wrote:
Alyssa is a wonderful young lady who excels in all she does. She has been her High School Student’s Union President and has initiated talent shows, culture fairs and community leaders to speak at her school. Alyssa started a community project in her school by getting students to make homemade cards and delivers them to cancer patients and their families at the Cross Cancer Hospital and the Stollery Children’s Hospital. She also made cards for the staff at these facilities as she knows the dedication and work that they do for their patients. She knows this first hand as she has had some health issues over the years but with determination and perseverance she has overcome them. Alyssa has been a dance teacher and basketball coach to young students. She has the wonderful ability to interact with young children and make them comfortable in their activities. Alyssa received the Premier Citizen Award and the High School Service Award at her school. These awards recognize her service to her school, community and society. Alyssa is able to associate with young and old. She spends time with her grandparents, great-grandmother, aunts and uncles and many friends. She has a warm smile, thoughtful words and a helping hand for everyone in need. Alyssa undertakes all tasks with determination, integrity, hard work and humility. She is a great leader, friend, co-worker and family member . She puts her whole heart into all she does and her accomplishments are well deserved. She is respected by her peers, community, teachers and business and political leaders. Alyssa is a great leader, role model and mentor in her community and school.
