The news has always been a big part of life for Tom Ross. Beginning with a love of newspapers as a child, Tom was always informed with everything happening around the world. The outbreak of the Iraq War in 2003 was when he realized international news was his true calling, and his choice to enter journalism was sealed when he started cutting out articles to stay up to date.
Born and raised in Calgary, Tom stayed in the city to go into the RTBN program at SAIT. Two years of unforgettable education later, he immediately went into his first job in Cranbrook, BC in 2013. There, he cut his teeth as a journalist in a small town, while also hosting an evening rock show and learning the ins and outs of radio. Just over two years later, Tom made the tough choice to leave the scenic East Kootenay to move back to Calgary. Soon after, he got a job at 660NEWS, moving from overnight anchor, to a jack-of-all-trades in the newsroom, and eventually to the mid-day reporter in 2018. Being back in a large city is exciting, and Tom can't wait for all the news to come.
