About Henna

Henna joined the CityNews Calgary team in 2021, after working as a multimedia reporter for BBC Urdu and BBC World Service in Pakistan and the United Kingdom. There, she tackled political, human rights, and investigative stories and did some documentary work. She has a Ph.D. in Media Studies with a specialization in newsroom agenda-setting from the University of Punjab, Pakistan, as well as a master's degree in filmmaking from Manchester University in the U.K. Henna has won multiple awards in the U.K., the U.S., and Pakistan for her documentaries and news reports, including ICRC Red Cross Journalist of the Year, O2 NorthWest Talent of the Year, CEJ-IBA Excellence in Journalism Awards, and the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.
