China to open GlobalFest fireworks show Thurs. night

CALGARY – Another popular summer event in Calgary is returning after being cancelled last year because of the pandemic.
The GlobalFest International Fireworks Festival begins at Elliston Park Thursday night.
Team China, which has been competing in GlobalFest for nearly a decade, is up first.
Judges will be scoring firework performances on originality, quality, brilliance or richness of colours used, synchronization and scope. At least half of the music used in each show must come from that performing country.
The festival also features 20 international food booths.
Gates open at 6 p.m.
