Arrests at Calgary protest calling for firing of police Constable Alex Dunn

CALGARY — An anti-racism activist is one of two people arrested, amidst ongoing protests calling for the firing of a Calgary police officer.

Video posted to social media shows two people being taken down by sheriffs.

The pair were at rallies involving a number of anti-racism organizations that came after Cst. Alex Dunn was convicted and sentenced for the assault of a black woman in 2017.

President of Black Lives Matter YYC Adora Nwofor was there and says it started when two protestors were talking to police.

She says two people in workout clothes came up and attacked one of the two and a fight broke out.

Nwofor says sheriffs and police then took down the person who was attacked, as well as a second protestor.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) confirm two people were taken into custody by sheriffs following a report of an assault in front of the courthouse.

They are now investigating the incident.

660 NEWS reached out to Alberta Sheriffs for comment on the matter, in which they responded:
