‘It’s just too soon’: Notley reacts to rolling back of COVID-19 protocols in Alberta

CALGARY — Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley is reacting to the province’s decision to roll back COVID-19 protocols.

On Thursday, Notley called the move irresponsible and urged the government to reverse it.

“It is simply baffling that we would just stop these efforts to track the virus and prevent the infection, it’s just too soon,” said Notley.

She also called the move irresponsible, but says she won’t call for Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw to resign over it.

“I’m so struck by the recklessness of this decision,” she said. “I simply want to say to all the people who have agencies over this decision making, they all need to take responsibilty and they all need to re-consider the recklessness of this.”

She says more people will be put at risk, especially with people forced to work with infetions, and also called for vaccines to be offered in schools this fall.
