Mixed emotions from Calgarians about quarantine restrictions being lifted

CALGARY — There are some mixed emotions going around as the province moves forward with lifting measures around quarantine and isolation requirements for COVID-19.
As we break free from more restrictions there continues to be some hesitancy from some about things moving too fast from some Calgarians.
“I think it’s a little bit frightening, to be honest.”

“There definitely seems to be a keen sense of, ‘We just want it to be over and done with,’ when it’s not necessarily over. So, it does seem a little bit too quick,” one woman said.
And some of the concern is centred around the rise in cases and the transmission of the virus on public transit.
“I’m not in favour of lifting restrictions as our numbers are getting higher,” another woman said.
But there is some hope by others and putting their trust into the vaccines.

“It’s good, why? Because a lot of people — like me — have both injections. So it’s OK, people need a little freedom,” one man said who was visiting from British Columbia.
He added he and others are ready to do some more travelling after being inoculated.
“I live not too far from the border and we always go buy gas and buy food, and it’s cheap. Also, a lot of people go there, not just me, and I would like to open the border as soon as possible,” the man added.
Others were concerned about the risk of removing these measures could lead to another wave of infections and impact businesses that were affected by previous restrictions.
