Calgary police locate missing hiker in Weaselhead Flats

CALGARY — Thanks to Calgary police and HAWCS, a hiker who went missing in Weaselhead Flats on Tuesday was found safe.

Police say the hiker had gone out on Tuesday morning and became disoriented.

After trekking for several hours, the hiker decided to call police.

Shortly after phoning police, HAWCS, along with officers and firefighters on the ground, were able to locate the hiker and bring them to safety.

“We would like to remind everyone enjoying the natural areas in and around our city to please stick to the paths, bring appropriate outdoors clothing, water, and food, travel with friends when possible, and to tell loved ones where you are going and when you intend to be back,” Calgary Police said in a tweet on Tuesday.
