Alberta reports 387 COVID-19 cases over the weekend, active cases surpass 1,000

CALGARY — Alberta saw a jump in active COVID-19 cases over the weekend.
There are now 1,083 active infections in the province, the highest count in Alberta since June 29.
NEW: Active cases in Alberta are over 1,000 once again.
Hospitalizations remain low at 83 with 21 of those in the ICU.

This comes after 387 cases were identified over the past three days:
– 151 on July 23.
– 142 on July 24.
– 94 on July 25.
Alberta’s provincewide R-value also increased to 1.48 last week. That’s up from 0.84 during the last reporting period.
Despite the recent rise, hospitalizations remain stable at 83, including 21 in the ICU.
No new deaths have been reported since July 23.
As of Sunday, 75.4 per cent of the eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 63.4 per cent are now fully vaccinated.
