Aheer says she’s here to stay despite being removed from cabinet in shuffle

CALGARY – UCP MLA for Chestermere-Strathmore Leela Aheer says she is not going anywhere and will continue to work hard for her constituents.

“I intend to continue to work hard on behalf of my constituents and all people in Alberta,” she said in a release.

“Resilience is in our blood, passion is in our hearts, and we don’t sit on the sidelines, we get to work.”

She was removed from cabinet in the shuffle last week.

Aheer openly criticized Premier Jason Kenney’s actions after the controversial Sky Palace dinner that made headlines.

It seems no hard feelings though–in the release, Aheer also thanks Kenney for the opportunities she had as minister.

“There is no greater privilege than serving the interests of the people who elected me to govern,” she said.

“I am humbled and full of gratitude and pride for the many accomplishments in our ministry and I wish the new ministers great success as they begin their work.”
