Alberta identifies 23 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

Just 23 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Alberta on Thursday.

Hospitalizations fell slightly to 133 while no new deaths were reported.

Alberta has now administered more than 4.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

CALGARY — Alberta identified just 23 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

The new cases come following the completion of 5,897 tests.

Active cases also continued their decline, with active infections now at 697.

Hospitalizations saw a slight decrease, with 133 people now in hospital, while ICU admissions rose slightly to 32.

No new deaths were reported over the last day.

On the vaccination front, more than 4.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date in the province.

Second dose vaccinations continue to steadily approach first dose numbers, with 52 per cent of those 12 and older in Alberta now fully vaccinated.

The percentage of eligible Albertans with just one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine now sits at 73.7 per cent.
