Canmore removes mask rule for public indoor settings

CANMORE – The Town of Canmore has joined the rest of the province, dropping its mask bylaw for public indoor settings and outdoor lineups.

The third reading of the repeal legislation passed by a council vote of 6-1.

As required by Alberta Health, masks are still required masks on public transit, including rideshare vehicles, taxis, motor coaches, and shuttles as well as in acute and continuing care facilities.

Individual businesses in the community may require staff and/or customers to wear masks inside their place of business.

Banff ended its mask bylaw on Canada Day, when the provincial mask mandate lifted as a part of the final stage of reopening.

Calgary city council voted this week to remove a local bylaw.
