Seven-year-old behind the wheel when car flips on its side, lands in Edmonton playground: police

EDMONTON – A seven-year-old boy had to be taken to an Edmonton hospital for precautionary reasons, after police say he took the keys to a family vehicle, crashed into a parked car, hit a tree, and flipped on its side before coming to rest in a playground.

It happened around 12:25 p.m. Monday, local time, in Edmonton’s northwest end, at 115 Street and 148 Avenue.
The parents of the boy confirm to CityNews that the boy had taken the van on a joyride.

Police say the vehicle hit a parked car and a tree, before it overturned and stopped at a neighbourhood playground.
No one was at the park at the time.
No word on if any charges will be laid.
