CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The president of Black Lives Matter Calgary, Adora Nwofor says while the sentence of Derek Chauvin may provide some solace to George Floyd’s family, it’s not enough.
“He took a life, and we couldn’t even get him life in prison. That’s a message to Black folks that we don’t mean anything.”
“It’s horrific. There are people who have been in jail for 40 years for possession so killing somebody live shouldn’t probably warrant at least 25 years.”
Nwofor expects Chauvin will eventually get parole, but the sentence of 22 and half years does not do enough to help bring an end to police brutality in the U.S and in Canada.
