Alberta reporting 73 new COVID-19 cases Thursday

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – The province continues to see a decline in new COVID-19 infections with 73 confirmed on Thursday.

There are 1,580 active cases throughout Alberta, down from 96 the previous day.

In the last 24 hours, 5,715 tests were completed for a provincial positivity rate of 1.3 per cent.

One more Albertan has died from virus-related complications, a man in his 70s from the Calgary zone.

The latest death brings the province’s total to 2,293.

One hundred and ninety people are in the hospital with 50 in the ICU.

On the vaccination front, 71.1 per cent of the population has received at least one COVID-19 shot and 33 per cent are now fully vaccinated.

As of Thursday afternoon, 227,768 people have recovered from COVID-19.
