Stage 2 of reopening plan set for June 10, 209 new COVID-19 cases reported

EDMONTON — Alberta is set to enter Stage 2 of its “Open For Summer” reopening plan on June 10 should hospitalizations stay below 500.
Premier Jason Kenney says now that the province has surpassed 60 per cent of the eligible population being vaccinated, we can continue with our path forward.

Alberta entered Stage 1 of the reopening plan on Tuesday.
As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 2.8 million vaccine doses had been administered in Alberta, with about 63.4 per cent of the eligible population vaccinated with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Stage 2 will allow, among several other things, for outdoor gatherings to increase to 20 people, gyms and fitness studios can open up for solo and drop-in classes, and restaurants can allow indoor dining once again.
The full list of what restrictions will be lifted in the next stage of the reopening plan can be viewed on the government’s website.

On Tuesday, the province’s COVID-19 case count continued to decline with 209 cases of the virus being reported.
The new cases come following the completion of 4,100 tests.

Hospitalization numbers stayed relatively the same with 438 people in hospital, and 127 in the ICU.
One additional death was reported on Tuesday.
