Woman hit by vehicle in southeast Calgary dies from injuries

CALGARY — A woman in her 20s who was struck by a car in southeast Calgary on Tuesday night has died as a result of her injuries.
Two people were crossing the intersection of Canyon Meadows Drive near Deer Ridge Drive S.E. around 10:15 p.m. when one of them was hit by a 2009 Hyundai Accent, driven by a man in his 70s.
The woman was thrown a significant distance which resulted in serious injuries.

Later on Tuesday night, the woman succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, and police say speed and impairment are not considered factors.
Police are now looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision.
This is the sixth fatal pedestrian collision of 2021.
