Calgary vaccine clinic expanding hours for Ramadan

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Genesis Centre clinic in northeast Calgary is expanding its hours to allow for Albertans during Ramadan to get their COVID-19 shot.

About 700 additional evening appointments will be added to the clinic to ensure eligible people who are wanting the vaccine get access to it after sundown.

“We built our vaccination program to remain nimble and responsive to Albertans’ needs. I am pleased that we are able to continue offering vaccines at hours that will allow Albertans to access the vaccine at times that work for them during Ramadan. If you are eligible, please book your appointment as soon as possible to get protected as soon as possible,” said Health Minister Tyler Shandro.

“This is a great example of our government’s dedication to protecting all Albertans. Muslim Canadians advocated for this change, and I am pleased that our government is able to deliver protection to citizens in north Calgary,” said MLA for Calgary North, Muhammad Yassen.

Eligible Albertans can make an appointment online or through the AHS booking tool or even by calling 811.

From May 4-10 the clinic will be open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
