CALGARY (CityNews) – Sunday’s snowfall could slow down the City of Calgary’s spring street-cleaning schedule.
Residential street sweeping is scheduled to begin Monday, but as snow gathers in parts of the city, it may mean a delay for some streets.
Chris McGeachy, a spokesperson for Calgary’s roads department, says it is difficult to predict the exact impact of a snowfall on the street-cleaning schedule.
“With this weather, we’ll take more of a wait-and-see approach,” he said.
McGeachy says that with the warm weather the city has seen recently, the hope is that road temperature is high enough to keep the streets clear.
“What we’re hoping is that the road is just wetted, and not snow-covered.”
If there is an accumulation of snow on the streets that are scheduled for Monday, it would likely mean a rescheduled sweep at a later date.
Calgarians can find out when their street is expected to be swept on the City of Calgary website.
