Uncertainty due to COVID-19 postpones Country Thunder Alberta to 2022

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — After some conversations with public health officials, Country Thunder Alberta has been postponed to 2022.

“This is not the news that our fans want to hear or the news that we wanted to deliver,” said Country Thunder Festivals CEO, Troy Vollhoffer in a release. “But, as we have learned, and given these extenuating circumstances, the decision-making process is completely out of our hands.

Though disappointed, Vollhoffer says they promise for the “biggest and best festival possible in 2022.”

Difficulties regarding large-scale, festival-size gatherings, COVID-19 protocols, and ongoing border and travel restrictions are named as some of the reasons behind the postponement.

Country Thunder says all tickets will be honoured for 2022 and asks all ticket holders to hold on to the tickets until next year.

There was no word on if refunds will be given out for the tickets.
