Calgary Hitmen suspend team activities after positive COVID-19 test

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The Western Hockey League (WHL) has announced the Calgary Hitmen have suspended all team activities after a player within the team’s cohort tested positive for COVID-19.

After playing the Hitmen on April 5, the Medicine Hat Tigers have been deemed a close contact and have been shut down as well.

At this time, nobody within the Tigers organization has tested positive for COVID-19.

The WHL is working with Alberta Health to figure out a path forward.

As a result of the positive test, the following games have been postponed:

  • Medicine Hat vs. Lethbridge Hurricanes on April 9
  • Calgary Hitmen vs. Red Deer Rebels on April 9
  • Lethbridge Hurricanes vs. Medicine Hat on April 10
  • Red Deer Rebels vs. Calgary Hitmen on April 11
  • Medicine Hat vs. Lethbridge Hurricanes on April 12
  • Calgary Hitmen vs. Red Deer Rebels on April 12
