CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Three people have been charged in connection to a double homicide in 2019.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on April 3, 2019, police were called to the 2400 block of 37 Avenue N.E., just west of Barlow Trail, for reports of a shooting.

Police found two men, Jasdeep Singh, 25, and Japneet Malhi, 22, who had been shot inside a car. The two men later died from their injuries.

Police believe the shooting was targeted, as they say two of the suspects waited for the victims for more than an hour before driving past their vehicle and firing multiple rounds into it.

Just over two years later, police have now charged Amandeep Saggu, 30, Prabhjyot Bhatti, 22, and Jaskaran Sidhu, 21, with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.

“Over the last two years, we have worked to piece together an investigation in which two young people lost their lives in such a calculated manner,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “Three people will now be held to account due to the diligent work of many areas of the Service, throughout this investigation.”

All three suspects are due to appear in court on Thursday, April 8.
