City hands out more tickets for those violating face mask rules

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Three dozen more tickets have been handed out to Calgarians not wearing a mask.

The city released the latest numbers on enforcing the Face Coverings Bylaw Friday, showing 36 tickets have been handed out since Feb. 25, a total of 258 since August of last year.

One of those tickets was handed to a business for failing to display the proper signage in an entryway of a public indoor space.

The city also reported that 197 tickets have been given since the end of November for violating rules under the Public Health Act and State of Local Emergency.

Failing to wear a face-covering can result in a $100 fine and not displaying proper signage could cost you $200.
