CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Long-time Calgary city councilor Druh Farrell has announced she will not be seeking re-election in October.
Farrell made the announcement on a blog post Monday night:
“I won’t be running for re-election this fall. It won’t be me championing our Downtown into the coming decades. We need bold leadership around the council table to ensure our Downtown is transformed into a true community where people will want to live, work, learn, and play for years to come. City-building is no easy task but, after 20 years around the council table, I can tell you it is worth it.”
This means we will see no fewer than six fresh councillors around the horseshoe after the election. It will be a very different looking city council once the dust settles.

Farrell, a born and raised Calgarian, has served Ward 7 on city council since being first elected back in 2001.
