One person hospitalized after plane crash northeast of Edmonton

A plane crash in Alberta’s Strathcona County sends one person to hospital. It happened Saturday afternoon near the Josephburg Airport, about 50 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

EDMONTON (CityNews) – Alberta RCMP say multiple people sustained minor injuries after a small plane crashed northeast of Edmonton on Saturday afternoon.

Strathcona County RCMP say a plane was in the process of taking off from the Josephburg airport at 2:41 p.m.

Due to an unknown issue, the pilot attempted to land immediately after take-off but experienced a hard landing.

Alberta Health Services says one person was transported to hospital in non-life-threatening conditions.

The Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the cause of the crash.
