WHL to return in March

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – WHL hockey is on, as the first two weeks of games of the 2020-2021 Regular Season were announced Friday.

The Central Division, consisting of the five Alberta-based teams, will play all of their games within the province, with all games within the first two weeks falling on the weekends.

The 24-game season starts with the Calgary Hitmen taking on the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, March 5.

COVID-19 protocols will be followed to limit possible spread of the virus.

“If a WHL Club has one or more players or staff test positive for COVID-19 at any point in the season, the Club will be required to suspend its Club activities for a minimum of 14 days,” stated a release.

Masks will be worn by players and staff at all times, save for players on the ice during games and practices.

There will be no fans in the stands, however, a live streaming service will be available for spectators to enjoy at home.
