CALGARY – A Calgary police officer who threw a handcuffed woman to the floor face-first told his victim Thursday he didn’t intend to cause her physical and psychological pain.
Cst. Alex Dunn was found guilty in December of assault causing bodily harm for his actions at an arrest processing unit in 2017.
The Crown is asking for a nine-month jail sentence.

Dunn expressed his remorse at a sentencing hearing through his lawyer Cory Wilson.
In a video played during his trial, Dunn was seen throwing Dalia Kafi to the floor, with her blood then pooling around her head.
Kafi’s hands were behind her back.
Dunn’s lawyer wants a conditional sentence or 30 to 45 days.
The judge has reserved her decision.
