Closing arguments in trial of man accused in toddler’s death

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Closing arguments are set to begin Tuesday in the trial of a man accused in the death a three-year-old girl.

Justin Bennett is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Ivy Wick in 2017.

The girl was found injured in a home along Rundlehorn Drive N.E. on Sept. 27, 2017. She was sent to hospital where she died a few days later.

Police said Ivy’s mother and Bennett, who was not the girl’s biological father, were the only ones with direct access to the girl on the day she was taken to hospital.

The medical examiner stated Ivy’s body was covered with injuries believed to be caused by physical abuse.

Bennett was charged with second-degree murder in Sept. 2018.
