Alberta reports 875 new COVID cases and 23 deaths

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Another 875 new cases of COVID are being reported in the province.

In the last 24 hours, 16,000 tests were completed and now the provincial positivity rate sits at 5.3 per cent.

There are 12,838 active cases throughout the province with the Edmonton zone leading in active infections with 4,828. The Calgary zone has 4,752.

The province has also recorded another 23 deaths related to the virus. The death toll in Alberta now sits at 1,368.

In Wednesday’s provincial update, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw confirmed that there are 820 people in the hospital with 137 in the ICU.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 99,412 people have recovered from COVID-19.
