Police investigating after two people found shot to death in car in Marlborough

Calgary Police are investigating after two people were found dead in a running car Tuesday morning, and say the shooting may have been related to organized crime.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Police believe two men found dead in a car in the northeast community of Marlborough on Tuesday morning were the victims of a targetted shooting.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., police were called to Marcombe Drive near 48 Street, where the vehicle that had been left running on the street for hours.

The Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and says the deaths are suspicious.

It is believed the vehicle may have been parked on the street since Monday night.

“This was a violent and targeted incident that resulted in the death of two individuals.” Says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “While we are in the early stages of this investigation, this shooting has the hallmarks of organized crime. We are committed to keeping our community safe and asking anyone with information to contact police.”

Anyone with information about the deaths, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Marlborough area, is asked to contact police.

Officers are currently canvassing the area for security camera footage.

Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday.
