Suspect in custody after allegedly shooting at bailiff in Okotoks: RCMP

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A man is in custody after allegedly firing at a bailiff in a town south of Calgary on Saturday morning.

RCMP say they were called to the scene of an incident in a residential area of Okotoks, Alta., around 9 a.m. following reports of shots fired.

The lone occupant of a home on Stanley Avenue reportedly fired at a bailiff who was delivering court documents.

The incident led to a “heavy police presence” in the area, according to a police statement. The emergency response team was dispatched, and residents were asked to remain indoors.

Police say the man was arrested and taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. Nobody was injured.

The suspect is facing several charges. Okotoks RCMP are investigating.
