Canada announces roster for 2021 World Junior Hockey Championships

RED DEER (SPORTSNET) — Hockey Canada has announced the 25-man roster that will look to defend gold at the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championships.

The roster features 14 forwards, eight defencemen and three goalies, with six players returning from last year’s gold-medal winning team.

Nine players were cut Friday as part of the final roster composition: forwards Seth Jarvis, Mavrik Bourque, Samuel Poulin, Jamieson Rees, Graeme Clarke and Gage Goncalves; and defencemen Donovan Sebrango, Lukas Cormier and Ryan O’Rourke.

All 10 teams competing in the tournament will need to report to Edmonton on Sunday, with pre-tournament play beginning next weekend. Canada opens the tournament on Dec. 26 against Germany.
