Calgary crews reminding people to stay safe while driving on icy roads

By 660 NEWS Staff

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary roads crews are working around the clock as some icy conditions set in around the city.

There have been a lot of crashes on the major roads already, with foggy mist contributing to the slick pavement as temperatures continue to drop.

Chris McGeachy with the roads department says they have all equipment working to lay down salt and clear the roads.

“We really haven’t seen a lot of accumulation at this point. Obviously, that can change in an instant,” said McGeachy.

“We just want to remind people to be safe out there on the roads and look out for each other.”

The seven-day snow plan is in effect, so for right now, crews are focusing on the priority routes.

But, if you have concerns about a residential area, you can contact 311.
