RCMP searching for driver after collision on Highway 1

COCHRANE (660 NEWS) – Police say a crash along the Trans Canada Highway west of Calgary was the result of a suspected drunk driver.

Cochrane RCMP responded to calls Friday morning that someone was driving a pickup truck erratically on Highway 1, sometimes driving west in the eastbound lanes.

The truck then crashed into a semi near Range Road 33.

Two people in the pickup suffered minor injuries but the driver ran away and police are still searching for him.

RCMP said earlier in the day, the man was intoxicated while stealing items from a business off Highway 48.

If you have information as to where the driver might be, you’re asked to call Cochrane RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
