Firefighter injured in Federated Cooperative Plant explosion

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A Calgary firefighter has suffered minor injuries following an explosion and fire at the Federated Cooperative Plant in the northeast.

Stuart Brideaux with EMS says they were called out to the plant on 26 Street at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

“On arrival, EMS set up a staging area in support of Calgary Fire as the outwork to contain the incident, and fortunately, all employees and staff of the plant were able to safely evacuate,” Brideaux said.

Paramedics treated the firefighter on-scene and then rushed them to hospital.
