EDMONTON – Just over half of people living in Alberta want the government to impose tougher COVID-19 restrictions, including closing schools and a circuit-breaker style lockdown.
A recent survey from ThinkHQ says 51 per cent of those asked were on board, with even higher support for added restrictions coming from those in major cities.

About 20 per cent of those living in the north, central, and south zones said the latest restrictions from the provincial government–imposed about a week and a half ago–go too far, while those in Calgary (53 per cent) and Edmonton (60 per cent) said the measures don’t go far enough.
Over 80 per cent of those polled say they back mask mandates and 78 per cent said they support enhanced enforcement of businesses and people not following already existing health guidelines.
And what would Albertans like to see among the new measures?

Fifty-one per cent said they’d like to see schools close or more schools shift to online learning and 61 per cent say they want a circuit-breaker lockdown.
The new numbers come out as the UCP government looks at new restrictions in the province, with a new round of measures expected to be announced Tuesday.
