‘Highly concentrated’ drugs lead to 15 overdoses on Blood Reserve

The Blood Tribe Police in Southern Alberta warns of highly concentrated batch of drugs after 15 overdoses and one death in the last 24 hours.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Blood Tribe police in southern Alberta are reporting 15 overdoses and one death in the last 24 hours.

In a release, the Blood Tribe police and Emergency Medical Services called the number of overdoses in such a short period of time “alarming.”

The one death is not considered suspicious.

Authorities are warning the community that a highly concentrated batch of drugs is circulating.

Opioid overdoses have doubled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alberta has recorded 301 opioid deaths between April and June.
