The Canadian Football League has released its 2021 schedule, and for the Stamps, it includes a dozen meetings against Western teams.
“The competition within the West has always been strong and the increase in games within the division means our rivalries with Edmonton, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and BC will be even more intense in 2021,” Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel stated in a release.
Earlier this week, the club named its 2021 coaching staff.
2021 will also mark the Stampeders celebrating their 75th season. It was supposed to be in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the CFL to cancel the entire campaign.
But the big question remains if there will be spectators in the stands in 2021? The league commissioner hopes so.
“We’re looking forward to hosting our comeback season in our stadiums, in front of our fans,” Randy Ambrosie said.
“With this schedule, we’re signalling that we’re looking forward with optimism to playing in 2021. As we look forward to a new season, we are encouraged by the reports about vaccines, treatments and rapid testing in the news. We will continue to work with our local public health authorities in 2021.
“We thank our fans, partners and broadcasters for their continuing support and look forward to enjoying great Canadian football with them.”
The Grey Cup is slated to be awarded in Hamilton on Nov. 21.
