CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Calgary Zoo has announced the annual Zoolights event will be back for another year starting Friday (Nov. 20.)

Alison Archambault, director of brand engagement with the Calgary Zoo says a special guest will be there for the visitors.

“Santa is going to be moved up to the front of the zoo. So, first thing when you come in, Santa’s cabin will give kiddos the opportunity to have a physically distanced visit with Santa and have their guardians take a photo.”

Public health guidelines will be in place and it is recommended that face masks be worn all the time, but they will be required for indoor spaces.

“Like all other organizations and people, we had to send out new ways to do things with some staffing constraints, keeping people safe and separated, making sure there is extra cleaning of equipment.”

“We are offering a COVID-safe experience and we want to give folks a safe place to come down to gather with their cohort, this isn’t the year to come down with mass groups of friends. But come down with your family, enjoy a special holiday tradition,” Archambault added.

Tickets will be limited to help with social distancing and are available for purchase on the zoo’s website.

“You’re not supporting just any organization out there you’re supporting wildlife conservation and extinction doesn’t take a break during the pandemic and neither do our efforts to help.”

Zoolights will run until Jan. 3
