Eight new deaths, 1,105 additional cases of COVID-19 in Alberta

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Alberta has confirmed eight new deaths and 1,105 additional cases of COVID-19 within the province.
A total of 451 Albertans have died in relation to COVID-19.
Four of the deaths were in the Calgary zone, all above the age of 80, from outbreaks linked to Agecare Skypointe, Sage Hill Retirement Residence, Wing Kei Care Centre, and Bow-Crest Long Term Care Home.

The other four deaths were from the Edmonton zone, three of which were men in their 70s, and one who was in his 30s.
Two of the Edmonton deaths were linked to the outbreaks at Extendicare Eaux Claires and Grey Nuns Community Hospital.
There are currently 10,382 active cases in Alberta, 284 in hospital and 61 in ICU.
That means 87 per cent of Alberta ICU COVID-19 beds are taken.
No testing information has been released due to continued issues with the Alberta Health website.
