Almost 6,000 Calgary Catholic students and staff in isolation

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — It’s not a letter parents who have kids in the Calgary Catholic School District want to receive.

They’ve been told about 6,000 students and staff are now in isolation because of COVID-19.

Late last month, about half that number was in isolation.

The Catholic board adds there have been about 200 cases in its schools since classes resumed this fall.

The district says it is now going to “pull back” all extracurricular activities, and as of Monday, only regularly scheduled credit courses will be held in schools.

The Calgary Board of Education is reporting just under 2,000 students and 195 staff in isolation at this time.

There are 23 schools in Calgary under watch status, meaning they have five or more cases reported, and an additional 37 schools with between 2-4 cases and listed under outbreak status.
