Rocky View School Division changing COVID-19 positive notification

AIRDRIE (660 NEWS) – The Rocky View School Division (RVS) says it is changing the way it notifies staff and students who have come into contact with a positive case of COVID-19.

This comes as the district says it has seen an increase in the number of cases in its schools and on buses.

The RVS will now immediately let the people know if they were in contact with a positive case.

The close contacts will be required to isolate at home and wait for direction from Alberta Health Services (AHS).

If AHS decides the case was not contagious, the school will then email all the families involved and inform them that the person can return to school.

The RVS says this new approach may require those close contacts to isolate for longer but it will help to protect students and staff in the long run
