The UCP claim it will counter alleged false and misleading information from the Opposition over changes to the management of parks.
For months, the Alberta NDP has been leading the charge against proposed changes that could see operation of some parks contracted out.
A non-partisan group of environmental groups even got involved by creating thousands of signs with the words “Defend our Parks.” To date, they have delivered over 15,000 signs.
In February, the government announced plans to hand off the management of 164 provincially run parks to outside groups in a bid to save money.
Despite the backlash, the UCP has dismissed concerns the move will put the areas at risk, adding it will save about $5 million
This past Friday, the province announced it would start charging for parking to pay for grooming of cross country ski trails in Kananaskis, following an outcry over plans to scrap the grooming altogether.
