COVID-19 now infecting half of inmates at Calgary Correctional Centre

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — There are now 100 inmates at the Calgary Correctional Centre who have contracted COVID-19.

The latest update from the province also shows that 18 staff members have been infected in the outbreak.

This is an increase of 30 inmates and one staff since Wednesday, with the province attributing this increase to retesting previously negative inmates.

Also, six inmates who had tested positive previously are now at home isolating.

The jail is at half capacity, so there are about 200 inmates in there total, meaning that about half the population has become infected.
