Foothills Hospital outbreak slowing down

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – An outbreak at a Calgary hospital is showing signs of recovery.

The latest update from Foothills Hospital reported no new positive tests among patients or staff and that 75 per cent of the more than 315 workers in self-isolation have now returned to work.

Five units at the hospital remain in outbreak while three are on a COVID-19 watch.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) said multiple teams are working daily to find out where the infection may have started, how it was transmitted and who needs to be contacted and tested to limit exposure.

All patients and staff impacted by the outbreak are being notified.

A total of 11 patients have died so far from the outbreak with more than 80 people infected.

Officials with the hospital will provide more details on the situation at 12:00 p.m. Thursday.
