Calgarians rush to get vehicles prepped in time for winter

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It’s that time of year again, snow is on the horizon and Calgary drivers are rushing to shops to get their winter tires on.

The phones at the tire shops started ringing after the first sign on snow on Monday but snowballed with Thursday’s weather statement saying more snow is on the way.

Since then, OK Tire in Calgary’s northwest says it’s been hard to keep up and they needed to bring in some backup.

“We are appointment based but (…) sometimes we have to leave the car off for a couple of days and say we’ll get it done when we get it done.”

Bookings at OK Tire are backed up for two and a half weeks.

Dave Morgan with Fountain Tire in Airdrie is facing the same onslaught and has also hired extra staff to help out.

“We have hired extra guys in the backstop for sure and we are doing our best to get caught up, but it is still really hectic,” said Morgan.
