Calgary man accused of violent domestic incident arrested in B.C.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — A Calgary man wanted for a violent domestic incident has been arrested in British Columbia.

Vernon RCMP say they arrested 21-year-old Wyatt Reader after being called about suspicious activity at a store.

Canada-wide warrants were issued for his arrest on Oct. 7, after police realized he was living in a car in the B.C. interior.

“Domestic violence is a serious matter, and it is not uncommon to see people cross borders to try and escape charges,” said Staff Sergeant Paul Wozney, with the Domestic Conflict Unit. “Canadian law enforcement agencies are very well integrated and share information seamlessly, so sooner or later, a person with warrants will be found.”

Officers are now working to bring him back to Calgary to face the domestic charges including assault, uttering threats, and forcible confinement after an incident on Oct. 3, where a woman was violently assaulted.
