Suspicious death on Memorial Drive deemed a homicide

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary police say a suspicious death on Memorial Drive on Tuesday is being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators said a man fell from his vehicle along Memorial Drive and 36 St. SE around 8:50 a.m. The man later died of his injuries.

Police are asking anyone who was in that area at the time to contact investigators.

“The surrounding intersection was busy at the time of the incident and it is likely that witnesses can help to identify the vehicle involved,” said S/Sgt. Martin Schiavetta.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have captured the vehicle, or it’s licence plate, on a dashcam is asked to come forward. Sometimes even the smallest amount of information is crucial in helping us solve these types of investigations.”

It’s believed the man fell from his car, possibly a 2019 or 2020 Volkswagen Jetta sedan that had a “JESUS” sticker on the rear bumper, while stopped at a red light.

The name of the man is not being released until an autopsy has been finished.
