Police say same suspect involved in two attacks in February

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Following months of investigation, Calgary Police believe the same suspect is responsible for two violent attacks.

Both assaults happened several hours apart on Feb. 15.

In the first attack, police said a man in his 50s was struck from behind while walking in Fish Creek Park between 10:15 and 10:40 a.m.

Around 7:50 p.m. the same day, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed while out walking his dog with his mother as they walked along 110 Ave. and 15 St. SW.

At the time, police did not believe the attacks were related. However, after a review of surveillance footage, investigators believe the same individual is responsible for the assaults.

“It is extremely rare to have had multiple random and unprovoked assaults occur so close together in our city,” said S/Sgt. Jeff MacQueen.

“In both of these cases, the victims received significant injuries, and although they have recovered physically, the attacks have had lasting impacts on them.”

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward, even if the information may seem insignificant.
